MTK IMEI Writer is a small application for windows computer created by Thet Htwe Aung, which allows you to write or flash IMEI on your Android Smartphone and Tablets in few clicks only.

In order to use the MTK IMEI Write Tool, you need to install the Universal ADB Driver on your computer.

Once USB Driver is installed, you need to connect your Android Device or Feature Phone to the Computer using the USB data cable. Once your device is detected by the computer, you need to launch the MTK IMEI Writer Tool, and after launching the tool you need to click on the Scan button to scan the existing IMEI of your device.

You can also write the same existing IMEI number on your device or you can write new IMEI number of your Mediatek device. All you need to have 16 digits of IMEI number and fill it in the IMEI column. And if in case your device is having dual SIM slot, then you need to enter 2 different IMEI number in IMEI 1 and IMEI 2 column.

What is IMEI?
The IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique number to identify GSM, WCDMA, and iDEN mobile phones, as well as some satellite phones. Mostly phone have one IMEI number, but in dual SIM phones are two.

IMEI.info: The IMEI is only used for identifying the device and has no permanent or semi-permanent relation to the subscriber. The number is used by the GSM network to identify valid devices and therefore can be used for stopping a stolen phone from accessing the network in that country.

This article will explain how to use Qualcomm Flash Image Loader (QFIL) and a QCN file to write IMEI to a Qualcomm Android device. This tutorial will come in handy when you have an invalid IMEI or have restored another device’s QCN and wish to revert to your original IMEI without a hardware box / dongle. The IMEI(s) of the phone the QCN backup was made from.

Requirements:

– HxD Hex Editor
– IMEI Converter

1. Launch HXD and click File > Open.

2. Select the QCN backup (.qcn file) and click Open.

3. HXD should load the file and display its contents.

4. Launch IMEI converter and enter the IMEI of the phone the QCN backup was made from then click Convert IMEI.

5. Highlight and copy the HEX (converted IMEI).

6. Go back to Hex Editor. Click Search > Find.

7. Enter the HEX under Search for, set Data-type to Hex-values then click OK.

8. You should now see what you’re to edit to change the IMEI.

9. Go back to IMEI converter, enter the IMEI you wish to write (your own IMEI) then copy the converted IMEI (in HEX format).

10. Back in HXD, replace the HEX (you’d searched for) with the HEX of your IMEI then save.

11. Restore the QCN using QFIL and reboot the Qualcomm device.

Notice!!
– It’s illegal to change your IMEI so you’re entirely responsible for how you use this information.
– In case you don’t have the IMEI converter, the algorithm to convert IMEI e.g 108941207520590 to its corresponding HEX 08 1A 80 49 21 70 25 50 09 is 08 *First digit in IMEI*A *Two digits at a time from the rest of the IMEI reversed*. An IMEI like 3596410… would thus go like 08 3A 95 46 01…
– In case you don’t know the IMEI of the phone the QCN backup was made from, you can search for an IMEI pattern (in Hex Editor) based on the IMEI converter algorithm i.e 08 *A
– This procedure is for generic Qualcomm devices and is therefore not guaranteed to work for all Qualcomm devices.
